Jackie, a bald eagle, has been a symbol of wildlife education since 2015. Friends of Big Bear Valley and the San Bernardino Mountains Land Trust aim to raise $10 million to purchase 62 acres of land crucial for Jackie and her family, as a developer plans to build homes and boat slips. The fundraising deadline is July 31. The land trust was established in 1995 to combat development, and FOBBV was created in 2001 for similar reasons regarding the Moon Camp property.
