Shelbourne's costly errors allow Shamrock Rovers to celebrate with the bragging rights
"Roberto Lopes was allowed to roam into the box totally unmarked to level, before an awful mistimed clearance saw Michael Noonan pounce to put Stephen Bradley's champions in front."
"The third suckerpunch was a howler from Reds' 'keeper Wessel Speel just before the hour mark which allowed Graham Burke the easiest of finishes for his 100th goal in Rovers colours."
"Having labelled last Friday's home defeat to Dundalk as his side's 'worst' performance of the season so far, Joey O'Brien made no less than five changes to his Shels starting 11."
"Rovers edged the possession stats, just after the half-hour mark it was the Reds who broke the deadlock, with Harry Wood and Will Jarvis operated as a front two."
Shamrock Rovers defeated Shelbourne 3-2 in a match where Shels initially led. Rovers equalized through Roberto Lopes and took the lead with a goal from Michael Noonan. Graham Burke scored Rovers' third after a mistake by Shelbourne's goalkeeper. Jack Henry-Francis scored for Shels, but it wasn't enough. Rovers extended their unbeaten streak to seven games, while Shels suffered back-to-back defeats, dropping to sixth place in the league standings. Rovers are now just one point behind the joint-leaders St Pat's and Bohs.
