"Coach Danny Hurley mentioned, 'This guy played at probably 65% the first weekend versus UCLA. He probably got to 75% in the Sweet 16/Elite Eight game, and I think he's much better this week.'"
"Demary stated, 'I think once I start getting up and down, I start to feel more comfortable.' He acknowledged having some rust but remains focused on his job during games."
"UConn assistant Luke Murray remarked, 'He's made pretty heroic effort to get to this point,' highlighting Demary's focus on defense and initiating the offense early in the tournament."
Silas Demary Jr. is expected to be at 90% strength for UConn's Final Four matchup against Illinois. He suffered a high-ankle sprain during the Big East title game and missed the first NCAA tournament game. Coach Danny Hurley noted Demary's gradual improvement, stating he played at 65% in the first weekend and 75% in the Sweet 16. Although still not cleared for live practice, Demary feels he is getting closer to full strength and has focused on defense and offense initiation during the tournament.
