Ruben Guanipa Ramirez, a 26-year-old Venezuelan national, was indicted for second-degree attempted murder and assault after allegedly luring a man to Gilgo Beach and attacking him with a knife. Prosecutors stated that Ramirez drove the victim to various locations before the attack. During the incident, he attempted to slit the victim's throat but the man managed to escape and call for help. Investigators found multiple knives and other suspicious items in Ramirez's vehicle. He entered the U.S. in 2014 on a tourist visa and did not leave.
