"Just after 2:00 a.m. on March 30, 2026, two men broke into an office inside a local restaurant in the resort, stealing cash before strapping on skis and fleeing across the freshly groomed slopes toward the valley."
"An employee living on the property noticed the break-in and immediately alerted authorities. Because of the remote alpine location, police from PI-Ischgl had to be transported up the slope by snow groomers in pursuit of the suspects."
"Thanks to the coordinated effort, the two men - 19 and 31-year-old Kosovars - were apprehended, and the stolen cash was recovered."
"While this sounds more like something out of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, it was a real-life success story of Austrian police and Ischgl snow groomers working together."
On March 30, 2026, two burglars broke into a restaurant office in Ischgl, stealing cash and attempting to escape on skis. An employee alerted the police, who were transported up the slope by snow groomers. A snow groomer spotted the suspects hiding in a forested area and informed the police. The coordinated efforts led to the apprehension of the 19 and 31-year-old Kosovars, with the stolen cash recovered. Both suspects were taken to Innsbruck prison, and a complaint was filed with the Innsbruck Public Prosecutor's Office.
