Airfare prices have surged significantly due to rising jet-fuel costs and the economic impact of the war in Iran.
Airfare is often one of the biggest expenses of a vacation, but luckily travelers can save big by choosing to fly out of certain airports over others. The most affordable mainstream airports in the United States were in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Florida, and in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to a report from Expedia that was shared with Travel + Leisure. In fact, traveling out of these airports could save about 25 percent off the average flight cost compared to the country as a whole.
In its new report, it analyzed 75 major U.S. cities to identify which spots have seen the largest surges in hotel, meal, car rental, and flight costs over the past year. According to their findings, across all 75 cities, hotel costs increased an average of 3 percent, while meal costs increased an average of 24 percent. Getting there is also expensive, with airfare costs increasing an average of 8 percent.
