The Helmet of Cotofenesti, a priceless gold artefact from Romania, was stolen in January 2025 during a robbery at the Drents Museum in the Netherlands.

The Magnani Rocca Foundation museum described the March 22 theft as a highly professional operation, executed in less than three minutes, with four masked men forcing their way through an entry gate.

The investigation was triggered in 2015 following a complaint from Catherine Hutin, the daughter of Picasso's last partner Jacqueline Roque, after she discovered that works were missing from the unit she had rented from Bouvier's company, in a Paris suburb. Eight years before, she had asked Olivier Thomas, an art dealer and mutual friend of hers and Bouvier's, to sell Picasso's last residence on the Riviera, the Mas Notre-Dame-de-Vie in Mougins, and move the furniture to the storage unit.

One of the biggest California art thefts in years went down at a warehouse for the Oakland Museum of California, and now the FBI is involved, as thieves pilfered more than 1,000 artifacts and works of art in a 3:30 am heist this month. The fine art world was shocked on the morning of Sunday, October 19, when art thieves pulled off a heist at the Louvre, and rather brazenly did so in broad daylight when the museum was open.

It took less than 10 minutes. At 9.30am on Sunday, four men arrived in a truck outside the Louvre in Paris, driving right up under a balcony and setting up a ladder with a furniture hoist.
