The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-7 with a thin build and short dark hair, according to a statement from the Revere Police Department. In one of the incidents, he was reportedly wearing a black jacket and light-colored jeans.
Provincetown Police and Fire Departments responded to MacMillian Pier for a report of an unresponsive person on a boat in the harbor. When first responders arrived, officers entered the boat and found a second unresponsive person. First responders removed both people and transported them to Cape Cod Hospital.
The MSPCA-Angell evacuated nearly 50 animals from its Cape Cod shelter on Tuesday after running low on fuel to power its generator during widespread power outages. In social media posts, the animal shelter asked for the public's help, and roughly a dozen people responded. The shelter posted on Facebook that it was operating on a generator and was running low on fuel.
A South Dennis man was sentenced on Wednesday after threatening to murder a federal official and their family in March 2025, federal prosecutors said. Michael Mahoney, 64, was sentenced to two years of supervised release with three months of house arrest and must pay a $5000 fine, the office of the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, Leah Foley, said in a press release.
Embattled Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey announced Monday he will not seek reelection to the office he has held since 2010, ending a decades-long career in public office. "After thorough consideration, I have decided not to seek reelection this November," Morrissey said in a statement. Jason Vasquez, 51, of New Bedford, was found dead in the harbor Jan. 31, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office said in a press release. He was last seen Jan. 28 after he visited a "local adult establishment," the DA's office said. Prior to his death, Vasquez worked on a ship at the New Bedford Shipyard and Shoreline, the DA's office said. His boss reported him missing Jan. 30 after his vehicle was found in the shipyard's parking lot.
A State Police trooper was seriously injured Saturday after a car crashed into his police SUV on a Salisbury highway, State Police said. The trooper had stopped on I-95 South to remove a ladder from the roadway Saturday afternoon, the agency said in a press release. After he got back into his cruiser, another vehicle suddenly struck the trooper's car.
Police believe that the officer was driving the Jeep westbound on Route 139 "at a high rate of speed and passed a tow truck by crossing over solid double yellow lines into the eastbound lane," according to the preliminary investigation. "The Jeep then attempted to pass a second vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, again crossing the solid double yellow lines, and struck an eastbound Honda Civic head-on."
On Feb. 5, news reports circulated about ICE agents conducting an operation on Corinth Street. Witnesses told Boston 25 News that two unmarked Ford Explorers were seen circling Roslindale Square before the arrest. A local business owner told the station that he moved the car of the person who was detained after agents left the vehicle in the street with keys in the ignition.
