What we saw yesterday was not harmless fun. This is no place for games or risky behavior. Riding the wrong way on the freeway poses a serious danger not only to cyclists but also to the motoring public traveling at freeway speeds.

Police and California Highway Patrol officers stopped a planned takeover of the Bay Bridge by dozens of cyclists Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

"Over the next few months, people will see the bridge flickering here and there as we really work to make sure it works perfectly, but also for the artists to fine-tune the beauty that he's making," said Ben Davis, founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Illuminate, the arts nonprofit behind the project.
