"Too often, California makes the best transportation projects fight the hardest for approval. AB 1976 starts to change that by modernizing outdated rules, limiting unreasonable process hurdles, and creating a clearer path to safer, more people-oriented streets," said Marc T. "This project is symbolic of what we've done over the last 12 years, reshaping the streets and the city," Christophe Najovski, the city's deputy mayor in charge of green spaces, stated during the opening ceremony.

The notice applies to all Turbo Como SL 4.0 and 5.0 models with either belt or chain drives. Affected e-bikes were sold starting in 2021 and continuing up to the present.

The LGHS Bicycle Safety and Training Program requires every student who rides a bike to campus to take a safety course and register their bike online for free. The registration includes contact information and a picture of the bike so that the school can work with police if the bike is lost or stolen. The safety course requires students to watch a video and complete a test that emphasizes the importance of proper equipment and care, rules of the road and best practices.
