Changes to insurance for female athletes are positive, but fertility support remains a critical issue that needs addressing.
For the past six months, I have been training with ChatGPT. It was not only tactics. It was half of my training plan, motivation, etcetera. So it was a huge volume of all of my training. I used it as a psychologist, coach and, sometimes, as a doctor.
When I take a walk in my neighborhood, my white hair, dark glasses, and white cane shout to the world that I am an older blind man. Some passers-by assume that I am lost and ask if I need help. It is true that blind people sometimes need help when using a mobility aid (a white cane or guide dog) to navigate their physical environment. However, once a person becomes proficient at traveling with a mobility aid, they typically need much less help.
Without the motorized assistive device, an electronic wheel that attaches to the back of her chair, Berg says she has trouble maneuvering up hills or on uneven terrain, meaning the 55-year-old has been virtually housebound for months. "I'm ecstatic to get it back, but I also feel kind of battle-weary," Berg told CBC Toronto. "Why did it have to be like this? I'm exhausted by this three-month process."
Special Olympics focuses on athletes with intellectual disabilities, emphasizing that they want the same opportunities as everyone else (friends, jobs, independence) without social barriers. The organization helps remove obstacles to let athletes thrive. SOPA is all about the athletes and their remarkable resilience under challenging conditions. One remarkable fact about the athletes with intellectual disabilities is that they want to seek normalcy, inclusion, and the same opportunities as anyone else. They are not looking for "special" treatment or lowered expectations from people.
When USA Bobsled and Skeleton unveils its Olympic rosters, the most likely scenario is that either eight or nine women will wind up competing for that federation on the ice at the Milan Cortina Winter Games. Most of those sliders will almost certainly be women of color. By the time the Games open, this could be the most diverse U.S. Olympic winter roster ever assembled.
