Stephon Gilmore should be hired by the Patriots as a coach when he is ready to transition from playing.
This year's coaching carousel could reach epic levels, with John Harbaugh now officially out with the Baltimore Ravens and presumably on the market. It only took 48 hours for the NFL's two known head coach openings, the Giants and Titans, to climb to seven, and the movement of up-and-coming assistants and coordinators across the league will be seismic over the coming weeks.
The New England Patriots have had several assistants go on to become head coaches over the last decade. While none are head coaches anymore, they are all having success in their new homes. McDaniels is leading New England's No. 2 offense on a tough playoff path; Patricia was No. 2 at Ohio State's defensive coordinator, and Flores did an excellent job with the Vikings defense this season, as they finished top-12 for the third year in a row.
"It didn't matter if it was March, March was really important because March led to April," he added. "April was really important because it led to May and so-forth all the way up to the start of the season, all the way up to the final games of the season to prepare us for the playoffs and then if we were fortunate enough to make it to the last game, we were so prepared because every day was important."
