Miles Mikolas set a Nationals record for most runs allowed in a single appearance after giving up 11 earned runs.
Tyler Glasnow made his first start of spring training, and struck out four batters while recording six straight outs. He came out for the first batter of the third inning and allowed a hit, which turned into an earned run after the runner scored following his exit from the contest.
I love being here. I'm from Southern California. I've had a great time with fans. You guys treat me great. Everyone's treating my family good....I'm not worried about another contract, not going to bring it up, not going to talk about it. I got two years left. I'm just an employee. I just do my job, and if they want me back, they want me back. But I think Andrew [president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman] and everyone knows that I love being here.
It's the second stint with the Dodgers for the 31-year-old Almonte. He was with Los Angeles in 2022-23, combining for 83 1/3 innings with a 3.35 ERA, 23.9% strikeout rate and 11.9% walk rate out of manager Dave Roberts' bullpen. That production came in quite uneven fashion, however; Almonte delivered 35 1/3 innings of immaculate 1.02 ERA ball in 2022 but was roughed up for a 5.06 mark in 48 innings in 2023.
(Gina Ferazzi / Los Angeles Times) In the backfields of Camelback Ranch, the Dodgers' River Ryan and Blake Snell stayed behind to field grounders and practice throws to second. After a few dropped balls by Ryan during his transition, the two-time Cy Young winner talked it over at the mound with the young pitcher. It was a typical scene you'd see in the early days of spring training, the extra work to dial in fundamentals. But for the 27-year-old Ryan, it's part of the journey in his return from Tommy John surgery.
