20 hours agoFrench easyJet staff call Easter strike
Unions at easyJet have called a 24-hour strike on Easter Monday due to concerns over working conditions and shift notifications.
By 2024, EasyJet had expanded its network to 30 bases by opening two new bases in Alicante and Birmingham, and now claims to be one of the largest airlines in the world, with 355 aircraft, operating 1,207 routes across 38 countries and 164 airports. The company has an all-Airbus fleet flying 82 A319 aircraft, 180 A320ceo, 75 A320neo and 19 A321neo planes.
The departure of Ryanair has accelerated the pace, but given the current situation we are above all consolidating our position. This winter we have increased our offer by 10.5 percent and we have made year-round some routes between Bordeaux and the UK. We currently have 41 routes, which is our record in Bordeaux. We're reassured by the region's potential and we're continuing to develop, to the point of strengthening Bordeaux. We already have four aircraft and 200 employees at Bordeaux Airport.
Swissport staff are incentivized to identify oversized easyJet bags, earning £1.20 for each non-compliant item detected. This is part of the easyJet gate bag revenue incentive scheme.
"The UK is an important market for easyJet, and we are excited to be opening yet another UK base, in Newcastle, driven by the demand for our flights and package holidays."
