Corey Feldman stated, 'Personally, it felt a little bit like a family reunion I wasn't invited to. It is what it is. I just want to say that I'm with the rest of us, we're all very destroyed that things went down the way they did.'
There is this one, for example, which for the time being seems to solely consist of bored-looking reporters sullenly looking at their phones. But it will probably pick up in time.
I was supposed to host the awards this Saturday, a day of celebrating the hard work of artists in one of the strongest unions in the U.S. But could we really celebrate while the staff, who help support the union are asking to be heard of their needs? I'm honored to stand with them.
I can't say it feels great and I can't say that it makes me happy. It just makes me feel peculiar. It's just a movie, at the end of the day. It's just supposed to be an action movie about a guy trying to get his daughter back. And, what I see every day, it weighs heavy on my heart for the world.
Original TV shows, sports, and other video content may soon debut on Facebook as part of the social network's plan to boost the amount of video its members consume. In a big studio-backed awards season, it's rare to see much overlap between the Film Independent Spirit Awards and the Oscars. A west coast cousin of sorts to the Gotham Awards, the Indie Spirits often celebrate the movies that the Academy skipped over with its nominations. The ceremony itself is also more fun (there's some day-drinking involved) than the more staid guild awards that dot the homestretch ahead of the similarly serious Academy Awards.
In an inversion of the usual order of operations, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented its Film Award nominations a week after the Academy Award nominations. Looking at the list, there aren't too many differences from the Oscar lineup. Oscar-nominated actors Amy Madigan ( Weapons), Delroy Lindo ( Sinners), and Elle Fanning ( Sentimental Value) were left off the BAFTA ballot, so you can imagine the days of fretting we'd all have done for them had the BAFTA noms emerged first.
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground.
Hollywood woke up early on Thursday for one of its biggest days: the 2026 Academy Award nominations. At 5:30 a.m. local time, the names of those vying for an Oscar on March 15 were announced. Sinners, a bloody vampire horror drama set in the 1930s in the southern United States and directed by Ryan Coogler, has earned no fewer than 16 nominations, setting a new record as the most nominated film in the 98-year history of the Oscars.
