When MVP told me that Han and Holm were going to rematch in Stephanie's hometown of El Paso, I said I want to get on the card to support these two queens. Women's boxing is growing on a global level, and fights like this ... are proof of how far we've come.
The top of boxing's most notable weight class is seemingly as wide open as it has been in a long time. While many past stars from the heavyweight division, such as Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, and Anthony Joshua, still factor into the title picture, there are plenty of rising contenders who are waiting to pounce on the opportunity to join the upper echelon.
Gervonta "Tank" Davis remains one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but ongoing legal troubles outside the ring have thrown his career into uncertainty. Will the three-division champion ever fight again? Ryan Garcia is a talented fighter, blessed with elite speed and devastating power in his left hand. Since the announcement last September that Mayweather and Tyson were set to meet in an exhibition this year, details surrounding the event have been scarce. There have been no updates regarding where the fight will be broadcast/streamed, and sources close to the event told ESPN that reports of an April 25 date in the Democratic Republic of Congo were 'extremely premature.'
Followers of the sweet science scratched their heads. Mayweather is 49 and has earned more than $1 billion. Pacquiao is 47 and has earned more than $500 million. Why trade blows 11 years after their "Fight of the Century?"
