At the beginning of the season, I always do goal-setting. I do that not with just the team but with the whole football club - the chefs, everyone. Make them all a part of it. We called it 'Project 73' and we told no one outside the building. It was kept quiet.
I am delighted that the once-in-a-generation redevelopment of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre has reached another key milestone with the submission of the planning application for its transformation. The 15hectare site, opened in 1964, is set for a revamp of its athletics stadium, indoor arena, and swimming and diving facilities.
Gerry Cardinale faces a 'strategic crossroads' related to the NBA Europe project. He and RedBird can either enter Milanese basketball by acquiring Olimpia Milano, or start from scratch with a possible 'AC Milan Basket' team. This reasoning stems from the prospect of a more 'closed' and sustainable European league.
During the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina, the crowd at San Siro stadium cheered when the US team entered during the parade of nations. When the camera cut to Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance, the jeers began. A few days prior, protesters had gathered in Milan following reports that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents would be coming to the Italian city for the Games.
The west London club have been without a long-term shirt sponsor since their lucrative agreement with mobile phone company Three ended in 2023. IFS' agreement with Chelsea will see their logo feature on the front of the men's and women's teams' kits with immediate effect, meaning Liam Rosenior's side will wear the new shirts for their Premier League match against Burnley on Saturday and Sonia Bompastor's team will do the same against Manchester United in Sunday's Women's FA Cup clash.
Personalization is a tried-and-tested way to boost engagement while gathering valuable information about existing audiences - and is proving to be a key driver for the sports industry, says Rawnet's Harry Daniel. For brands looking to score with digital marketing, personalization is a winning long-term business strategy. Personalizing the user experience (UX) via websites and apps keeps fans engaged and enhances brand loyalty. This summer's soccer World Cup tournament will provide a rare opportunity for major advertisers looking to engage sports audiences over a month-long festival of footwork, free kicks and the occasional foul - all taking place in the U.S and Mexico. The increase is being largely driven by the Gen Z population, as basketball is now the 6th most popular sport among the 18-24 year old demographic. Despite there being major continental competitions across Europe like the EuroLeague and EuroCup, basketball is a sleeping giant that is awakening in the UK. This movement is likely to cause a massive shift in the sport's associated betting markets as well, but the big question of whether basketball can break into the mainstream remains.

"A lot of things have to fall in place before I think we're ready to expand," says Larman. "But certainly the dream is to get to a larger number of clubs. "The success of the league will depend on strength of the clubs - so all have strong community links or ingrained community involvement. "That's going to be key for them to have financial success, with big portfolios of commercial partners and a strong team off the pitch which is then generating a lot of money to invest in the first team and youth programmes."
A record 20.7m ($28.6m) was spent globally on transfers in the women's professional game in 2025 - an increase of 83.6% from 2024 - according to a report published by Fifa. There was an increase in the total number of cross-border transfers, with 2,440 completed in 2025, up 6.3% on the previous year. But the report does not take into account deals done between teams in the same league, therefore, the actual total spend would be much higher.
