Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office reports a year-over-year decline in use of force incidents, with 603 reported in 2025.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the incident happened around 2 p.m. in a parking lot off Dover Point Road near Route 16. Investigators say a trooper was doing administrative work in his parked cruiser when a man drove up, got out of his vehicle, and approached the officer while holding what police described as 'a stick and a metal tool.'

SAN BRUNO - A shooting and fire are under investigation in San Bruno, police said. I hope this is a one-off, but the new San Mateo County Sheriff, Ken Binder, waited nine days to tell the public that a woman had been threatened and a man was assaulted at the San Carlos Caltrain station. On Dec. 23, a man hassled a woman waiting for a train about her clothing. He then threatened to throw her on the tracks, according to the DA's office.
