The design by 1Y Architects approaches this silence as material rather than absence. Instead of clearing the debris scattered across the site, the team gathered bricks, concrete fragments, and broken tiles from former factory buildings. These remnants form the structural fabric of the sound museum itself.
Seongsu-dong is Seoul's creative hub, where old warehouses and factories have been transformed into design studios, cafés, and showrooms. Often referred to as 'the Brooklyn of Seoul,' the industrial infrastructure, pop-up scene, and design-led façades make it a photo-friendly destination favored by many design-loving visitors.
Large red balloons pull the pale pink fabric upward at key corners, while the material naturally drapes back down toward the ground. The upper surface of the cloth becomes a platform for the wedding ceremony, performances, and informal gatherings, while the shaded area below offers a place for cooling and rest.
We want to make this the most comprehensive historical survey of Chinese art in the first quarter of the 21st century. That was the first exhibition to introduce Chinese experimental art to the international art world, right after the end of the Cold War.

Communities make museums and museums make communities. Part of the establishment of M+ was a public consultation where people were asked what kind of museums they wanted. The recommendation was not to build lots of little museums, but to create a big museum that was cross-disciplinary, unburdened by labels like "modern" or "contemporary". It was to be a museum plus more, and that was how we became M+.
The pace is fast, the rules are complicated, and the players are often competitive, but it's more accessible than ever to try your hand. People around the Bay Area are gravitating toward mahjong at brewpubs, bookstores and other public spaces to learn this age-old pastime, which developed in China in the 19th century and spread around the globe in the 20th.
I spent the first half of 2025 in Paris, and while I loved living in a walkable city overflowing with art and culture, I often found myself craving a taste of home. Fortunately, Paris has not one but two Chinatowns: Belleville and the 13th arrondissement. Belleville is an artsy, historically progressive neighborhood shaped by centuries of immigration from Europe, Africa, and Asia. The trend blew up so much in recent weeks that celebrities like comedian Jimmy O Yang and influencer Hasan Piker even got in on it. It has now evolved into variations like " Chinamaxxing" (acting increasingly more Chinese) and " u will turn Chinese tomorrow " (a kind of affirmation or blessing).

You'd be excused for not noticing Hue House while walking down a midtown Manhattan street. After all, as ambitious as the idea behind this new four-story cultural club showcasing Asian culture may be, the building itself is fairly nondescript, tucked into 56 East 41st Street near Madison Avenue. Step inside, though, and it becomes immediately clear just how much thought has gone into the project.
Beginning as Hong Kong milk tea specialists popping up at various markets and festivals across London, HOKO opened a cha chaan teng on Brick Lane in 2023, serving char siu rice, pork chop buns, French toast and other HK diner dishes. The team then did a wonton pop-up at Wun's Tea Room & Bar in Soho in 2024 and it was such a success that it's now coming back as a permanent concept.
Singapore, Michigan, was a thriving lumber town in the late 1800s, until erosion from mass deforestation caused the surrounding sand dunes to shift and swallow it whole. Yet just as quickly as the town disappeared under sand, its namesake in the East emerged from it: Around the world, Singapore is renowned for its use of land reclamation - importing sand to increase landmass and spur urban development.
