The Brooklyn Navy Yard will not renew the lease of a drone manufacturer that contracts with Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Israeli military, and the Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems after more than a year of activists demanding eviction. The Navy Yard lists Easy Aerial as a " fine art and photography" business, but government records show the company has millions of dollars worth of US Air Force contracts, as well as a contract with CBP for drone operator training.

A senior security official briefed Israeli journalists, saying about 70,000 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli attacks on the territory since October 2023, excluding those missing. It is the first time Israel has publicly estimated the toll from the war in Gaza. Previously the government and military had only provided figures for militants Israel claimed to have killed. Gaza health authorities said the direct toll from Israeli attacks had exceeded 71,660 people, with at least 10,000 presumed buried in the rubble of bombed buildings.

The Israeli military's top lawyer, Major-General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, has resigned after admitting to leaking footage showing the gang rape of a prisoner at the Sde Temain prison facility in August last year. The video of the rape had originally been leaked to the press in early August in the midst of a right-wing backlash following the arrest of a number of soldiers for the rape of a Palestinian prisoner.

It's not uncommon in Israel today for a young man in his early 20s to be spotted on the streets with an amputated leg or serious wound. More than 500 Israeli soldiers have survived serious injuries fighting in Gaza, according to the military. Many of them endured catastrophic wounds that would have killed or maimed them in Israel's past wars, Israeli combat medics and surgeons say.

Hamas has said that none of the 21 people killed in an Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital was a member of the Palestinian movement, after the Israeli military claimed it had targeted a Hamas surveillance camera and killed six fighters in its attack on the medical facility. In a statement reported by the Reuters news agency on Wednesday, Hamas challenged the Israeli government's account that claimed to name six fighters killed in the attack, which has drawn global condemnation for targeting journalists, medics, rescue workers and civilians.
