Toronto Blue Jays start the 2026 season with two walk-off wins, showcasing lineup flexibility and strong pitching.
The New York Islanders finalized their Opening Night roster ahead of Monday's 5 pm deadline. The final cut did not feature any mind-shocking moves. As expected, Matthew Schaefer made the club. Also, Maxim Shabanov and Emil Heineman made the cut. Interestingly, an injury to Pierre Engvall spared the need to send him to waivers. That situation allowed the Islanders to keep Kyle MacLean and Marc Gatcomb on the big club, while keeping Maxim Tsyplakov in the lineup.
GREENBURGH - With lower-body injuries keeping both J.T. Miller and Sam Carrick from practicing Tuesday, the Rangers found themselves short a couple of centers at practice. So Mika Zibanejad stepped in for Miller as the first-line center, working with three wingers - Alexis Lafreniere, Gabe Perreault and Jonny Brodzinski - rotating around him. It was a chance, for a day, for Zibanejad to play the position he has owned for the Rangers for the past seven years.
