Meininger, who grew up in Germany but now lives in London, likes making things. So when he saw how much his young sons enjoyed the jungle gym and play forts at the local park, he made an indoor treehouse for them.
In that small 30-block zone last year, there were 486 reported crashes, injuring 76 cyclists, 108 pedestrians (one fatally) and 67 motorists, according to city stats. That's more than a crash every day, injuring more than 250 people.
The petition states the playground has broken and deteriorating equipment with sharp edges, rusted metal, chipped and peeling paint, uneven concrete, rodent infestation and limited green space, all of which they feel creates a hazardous environment.
"Stop climbing that (tower). You're not cool. I know it's fun. It looks cool. It feels cool. But stop. You're not Superman. You're not invincible. You can't survive. You need to know your own limits. There's more to life than adrenaline rushes."
A spokesperson for the company said that the incident involved the jib of a tower crane becoming detached from its fixing. The site will remain closed until the incident is fully investigated, the company added. The area will be cleared and deemed safe before construction can be resumed.

Children can be the captain of their own ship and let their imaginations soar when the playground reopens. The galleon will be the centrepiece of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens when it reopens in the summer.
Ramin Azizi was at Aerosports Trampoline Park in Scarborough attempting to cross the zipline on an obstacle course. His harness failed, his father said, and the child fell roughly six metres, hitting the ground on his back. Ramin said that while he was lying there, waiting for paramedics to arrive, he was scared he was going to die. I was feeling very traumatized, he told CBC Toronto in an interview on Tuesday.
A year ago, the back lot of Normont Early Education Center was little more than a bare, heat-radiating expanse of asphalt. Outside, the Harbor City preschool reflected its industrial neighborhood: scant grass, little shade, amid a block of warehouses full of grinding machinery. To get to campus, parents must shepherd their children through a concrete labyrinth, past auto body shops and steel manufacturers. At times, the noise of grinding gears can obscure the soprano whoops and wails of the preschoolers.
Work to fix hospitals built using unsafe concrete will not be completed in time to meet the government's target, a new report has warned. Seven hospitals built using Raac, or reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete, were prioritised for remedial work last year, with the government setting a deadline of 2030. The new buildings are now expected to open in 2032 and 2033 - but some are already facing pressure to meet the revised timetable, the National Audit Office (NAO) said.
Jane Jacobs was also one of the voices that challenged this predominantly rationalist logic, arguing that truly vibrant streets are those capable of sustaining the diversity of everyday life, its informal exchanges, and the forms of care and natural surveillance that emerge from them. What these authors share is a fundamental insight: streets are not merely infrastructures for circulation, but social ecosystems, shaped by the relationships, uses, and encounters that take place within them.
The terrain park operates on different rules and guidelines than the rest of the ski resort. While the downhill skier always has the right of way on the rest of the mountain, skiers and snowboarders are responsible for clearing out of any landing zone as soon as they can. Hanging out in the landing zone or allowing your child to hang out in the landing zone, as we see in the video below, is absolutely unacceptable,
A painter and decorator suffered fatal head injuries when he fell from a ladder while tying a Union flag to a lamppost, an inquest heard. Paul John Lumber, 61, had gone out near his home in Duckmoor Road in Bristol, to erect flags on lampposts after attending a football match. Avon Coroner's Court was told how neighbours heard a loud bang before discovering Mr Lumber on the ground, with his ladder nearby,
"Cyclists shouldn't be left on red," Stevenson wrote in an article for news website MyLondon. The traffic light system that prioritises buses contains sensors, so they know when buses are approaching. They can stay green for longer when a bus is approaching, or switch from red to green more quickly if a bus is waiting. "These lights should also allow cyclists to pass through without waiting," Stevenson said.
A bridge failure might sound like something from a blockbuster, but real damage usually creeps in slowly. Across the nation, engineers watch thousands of bridges that remain open, yet are far from their best condition. "Structurally deficient" is not a death sentence, but it signals repairs can no longer wait. These 10 bridges handle massive traffic and are a serious concern nationwide today.
An east London authority is set to spend almost 6m fixing fire safety faults at two recently completed council-backed housing and commercial developments. The issues include missing back-up power supplies at a block of 156 affordable homes, and sprinkler system problems at an industrial scheme that have left many business units unlettable. London Borough of Barking and Dagenham documents show the problems have delayed occupation, limited rental income and forced costly retrofits funded by taxpayers.
