The Welland Hospital and schools in the area are in lockdown as Niagara police say they're investigating reports of a shooting. There's a heavy police presence on Second Street between Plymouth Road and Lincoln Street in Welland, say police. Residents are asked to shelter in place or avoid the area as of Friday morning "while our officers work to make the area safe," police said in a news release.

West Midlands Police confirmed six arrests were made prior to kick-off ahead of Aston Villa's Europa League clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv at Villa Park. Three of those were arrested for "racially aggravated public order offences", police said. A 21-year-old man was arrested for "failing to comply with an order to remove a face mask", a 17-year-old boy for "failing to comply with a dispersal order", while one person for "a breach of the peace".
A major police presence has been reported attending an incident on a residential road in Harlesden. The incident happened in Curzon Crescent near Beveridge Road at around 8pm today (July 17).
"The young man stayed outside, pacing back and forth, and pressing his nails into his chest. He moved his hands up and down as if he were scratching himself, waiting for them to re-emerge."
