Meta's status and outages page said Facebook's advertisement manager features were impacted by high disruptions shortly before 5 p.m. EST. Users on Downdetector made 11,312 reports for Facebook, with 61% of them reporting issues with the website and 17% reporting problems logging in.
The MTA finished upgrading the Staten Island Railway fleet with all new cars in September 2025. The entire fleet of the borough's lone train line features the new, state-of-the-art subway cars known as R211S models - roughly one year after the first R211s debuted on Staten Island. The new trains replaced the older R44 cars, which were in service in the borough since 1973. It was the oldest fleet in all of New York City Transit, Crichlow noted.
Outage trackers such as Downdetector logged a dramatic surge in problem reports around midday GMT, with tens of thousands of users across regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, and India, reporting problems accessing the service. Some described impossible login loops and error messages telling them only that "something went wrong." Here's where it gets curious: nobody from X has confirmed why the platform hiccupped.
Via Rail says recent train cancellations along its Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal corridor were in response to "heightened operational pressure." A number of trains between Toronto and Ottawa, Ottawa and Montreal, and Montreal and Ottawa were cancelled "end-to-end" Monday due to what Via Rail's live tracker called "operational constraints." Pressed for details, the federal Crown corporation declined to be interviewed but said via email that the cancellations are a short-term measure meant to "protect service reliability" during what's expected to be a challenging time.
November 18 started like any other day. I was up early to finish some articles to meet a deadline. I was in the middle of doing so and needed some information to finish them. I figured that information would be easy and quick to get from ChatGPT so I had procrastinated doing the work. Just what I needed: when I opened ChatGPT on my laptop, I got some strange message about my credentials being invalid.
Woodstock, the Oakland-Alameda water shuttle which connects Western Alameda with Jack London Square, was taken out of service Saturday evening after "a safety incident at the Bohol dock," said Alameda spokesperson Sarah Henry. Henry explained that a person, potentially with mental health issues, was shouting threats at Woodstock crew and riders Saturday evening and Sunday. Ultimately, police were called and the individual was removed, Henry explained. Service resumed on Tuesday, operating on a newly implemented winter schedule (there is no service on Mondays).
When I took this job nearly a year ago, I had two priorities safety and service. As president of New York City Transit, I was going to do everything in my power to make the transit system safer, not only for our millions of daily riders, but also the tens of thousands of employees who keep this City moving. And I was going to do it while running the best possible service.
