Concerns about the Mets' performance and injuries are valid given their recent struggles and history of collapses.
After increasing chatter in recent years that Francisco Lindor, the $341 million cornerstone of Cohen's early rebranding of the Mets, would be next in line to take the captain's title, the owner flatly quashed that speculation Monday in no uncertain terms. "As long as I'm owning the team, there will never be a team captain," he said during a wide-ranging 23-minute session with reporters at Clover Park. "That was my decision."
After five months on the market and a $10 million price cut, billionaire Steve Cohen found a buyer for his Beverly Hills residence. The pending deal comes as the New York Mets owner looks to remake 50 acres of parking into an $8 billion casino complex next to Citi Field in New York. The project, called Metropolitan Park, is vying for a state gaming license.
