The USGA and its championships have played an enormous role in my life. The U.S. Junior Amateur and U.S. Amateur were defining moments in my development, both as a golfer and as a person. To be recognized in this way is incredibly humbling, and I hope it inspires young players to chase their dreams and appreciate the history and values of the game.

Tiger Woods turned 50 in December. He's four months removed from disk replacement surgery in his lower back - the same back that has endured six other operations, including spinal fusion in 2017. Woods won't be taking part in this week's Genesis Invitational, a tournament he has hosted since 2020, as he continues to recover from that procedure. The 15-time major championship winner told reporters at Riviera Country Club on Tuesday that he has been able to start taking full golf shots during his training.

They have asked me for my input on it and I haven't made my decision yet, Woods said. I'm trying to figure out what we're trying to do with our [PGA] tour. That's been driving me hours upon hours every day and trying to figure out if I can actually do our Team USA and our players and everyone that's going to be involved in the Ryder Cup,

Nick Price played the opening two rounds with Woods at St Andrews in the 2000 British Open and felt the tournament already was over. Mark O'Meara played a practice round with him at Pebble Beach before the 2000 US Open and told his wife before the championship started, Tiger is going to win. And not only is he going to win, he's going to blow away the field. Woods won by 15.

Woods hasn't publicly said whether he intends to play on the former Senior PGA Tour, which allows golfers to use carts and has a 54-hole format at most tournaments outside of the 72-hole majors.

The second TGL season tees off Sunday with a rematch of last year's SoFi Cup finals, in which Atlanta Drive GC defeated New York Golf Club in a pair of one-point matches on the final hole to capture the inaugural title in the tech-infused indoor golf league. Kai has known Tiger for years; she shared a photo of herself and her grandfather with the golfer in a post wishing him well after his 2021 car accident. In February 2025, Tiger was spotted at the Genesis Invitational golf tournament with Kai. A month later, she liked Tiger's post announcing his relationship with her mother. Kai named Tiger as one of her biggest golf influences in an August 2025 interview with the American Junior Golf Association.

Sun Day Red is now making its biggest move yet, expanding to elite golf courses and retail stores starting July 1 and July 22 respectively.

Woods was not only the overwhelming favorite to win, but he also represented a new era in golf with his unprecedented success at such a young age.
