When the Tomb Raider reboot landed back in 2013, it did something risky. It took an icon who had spent decades as an untouchable, dual-pistol-wielding force of nature, and broke her. Gone were Lara Croft's guns akimbo and her wink-at-the-camera cockiness in favour of a makeshift bow and a desperate, mud-caked struggle to stay alive on the island of Yamatai.
The image released by Amazon shows the eponymous God of War standing next to a tree as he watches his son - who notably looks a bit younger than the video game version of 11-year-old Atreus we first met in 2018's God of War - take aim with his bow. Exactly what they're hunting is unclear, but we know that the developing relationship between father and son that was such a big part of the PS4 game is also going to be at the heart of the show.
I've looked at all of the performances. Obviously, I've got all the scripts, so I know where it's going, and, you know, I think all of the Laras that have previously come before will also be informing as we move into a new era of Tomb Raider, I would say.
The PlayStation-backed Helldivers movie will release on November 10, 2027 with Justin Lin of the Fast and Furious franchise directing. Momoa and Lin previously collaborated on Fast X which was critically-panned but did fine at the box office. That over-the-top franchise certainly has parallels to Arrowhead Game Studios' sci-fi parody of inter-galactic war that's loosely inspired by Starship Troopers, but deftly nailing the same tone as the hit PS5 and PC extraction shooter won't be easy.

They would certainly make a peculiar group: a mustachioed plumber, a fearless archeologist, a lightning-fast hedgehog, a warrior and a princess, a monkey in a tie, a marsupial in jeans and a strange yellow rodent. Outlandish, to those unfamiliar with them. But for those who know of their existence, these creatures are global icons.
