The xx brought a career-spanning setlist of 19 songs, performing beloved tracks like 'Crystalized' and 'Islands' from their 2009 debut, 'Angels' from their 2012 sophomore effort, and 'I Dare You' from their most recent album, 2017's I See You.
Rough Trade and Rockefeller Center are once again celebrating Record Store Day with a free mini-festival, happening on Saturday, April 18 at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
The event was the following day: we had 250 tickets sold, we'd done so many rehearsals, and inside there were lighting rigs, performers' equipment, shop stock. It was truly heartbreaking. So many businesses lost so much money and time, and now the loss of the space itself is having a huge impact on the wider community.
Indie veterans of Montreal have announced an expansive 2026 North America tour set for June through August. Cormae and Sloppy Jane will serve as openers on select dates for the Kevin Barnes-led band. Spanning 36 dates, the summer run kicks off on June 19th in Athens, Georgia, with subsequent stops in major cities including New York City, Chicago, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC.

Trainspotting the Musical is as legit as it comes, being written by Welsh himself, in a version that will expand on the original story of Renton, Sick Boy, Begbie et al via a couple of new characters and a bit of material from his 2012 prequel Skagboys.
Edinburgh and Glasgow have a busier nightlife than London, according to data on late-night journeys from Uber. The global ride-hailing app analysed millions of trips and takeaway deliveries from the UK's biggest cities, and found that Edinburgh had the highest proportion of journeys made between 10pm and 4am. The most popular late-night spot was Cabaret Voltaire. Glasgow had the next highest number of late-night trips, with most rides requested to and from Sub Club, the world-renowned basement venue that has been going since 1987.
But at the end of this month, there's a brand new festival arriving to inject some colour into the financial district. 'Vibrance' will light up Roman ruins, medieval churches and secret gardens across the Square Mile on Thursday January 29 and Friday January 30 from 5.30pm until 8.30pm. Created by Guildhall Production Studio, it brings together more than a dozen artworks and live performances by emerging artists from Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Each stage is designed with a clear purpose, allowing different parts of the electronic spectrum to exist without compromise, from peak-time headline techno to foundational house, from high-pressure intensity to emerging local voices. Together, the stages form a complete ecosystem where every sound has room to exist properly, and the whole site is steeped in the famously high spec production, light and sound that makes this one of Europe's leading events.

Cameron Picton, the bassist, co-vocalist, and co-songwriter of Black Midi, is back with a new band. Descriptively named My New Band Believe, the four-piece will release its self-titled debut album via Rough Trade on April 10. Listen to their debut single, " Numerology," below. A tour of North America will follow the album; check out the dates below. "Numerology" is a standalone single not featured on the album tracklist (also below); it will come as a bonus 10" with a special edition of the LP.
Four events - Field Day, Cross the Tracks, City Splash and Mighty Hoopla - will take place from May 23-31. Summer Events Ltd, which runs the Brockwell Live series, submitted its first full planning application in 2025. This was the first time that planning permission had to be granted for the festivals to run in the park - until the legal battle which was won by anti-festival campaign group Protect Brockwell Park (PBP) in 2025.
Truth be told, this probably isn't going to be a great Eurovision. Five countries Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain are boycotting the contest over the continued inclusion of Israel. The night before Music's Biggest Night, Pitchfork continued its streak of ringing in the new year with fun, undeniably risk-averse things we've never done before. At El Cid, a historic open-air venue in LA, we threw our first-ever Best New Music party in collaboration with Hennessy. Co-hosted by PinkPantheress, FKA twigs, Kaytranada, Perfume Genius, and Pitchfork editor Mano Sundaresan, the party brimmed with talented artists shaping the future of music.
Portland-area festival Pickathon holds its 2026 edition on July 30-August 2 at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, OR. Festival passes and single-day tickets are on sale and they've just announced this year's lineup.
