Latest AR glasses from Xreal and Viture enhance gaming experiences with features like 3DoF, but no model is perfect for all users.
Following the acquisition, the Cinemersive Labs team will join SIE's Visual Computing Group (VCG) and contribute to our broader efforts in advancing state of the art visual computing within games. This includes applying machine learning to enhance gameplay visuals, improve rendering techniques, and unlock new levels of visual fidelity for players.
Meta sent an email blast to Horizon Worlds users today stating that the social VR world will officially end on its Quest VR headsets; starting March 31, Horizon Worlds will no longer be in the Quest store. Some Horizon-specific perks, including Meta Credits, avatars, and some digital clothes and in-world purchases, will also be removed.
If you've ever used tools like PhonicMind or LALAL.AI, you know the drill: Upload your MP3. Wait in a queue. Pay for "credits" or high-quality downloads. Your file sits on someone else's server. For musicians, producers, or just karaoke fans, this is slow and privacy-invasive.
Radioposter has built what it calls Paper-fi: physical books with synchronized audio soundtracks that follow readers in real time as they turn each page. No chips embedded in the paper, no QR codes to scan. The system uses patented computer vision and other modes through a smartphone or smart glasses to track your place in the book and play the corresponding audio.
A handful of Arc Raiders players have reported seeing the silhouette of a large ship in the clouds, but so far, only a Reddit user called Bewarden captured the incident in a video. The ship appears to be massive, but there's no indication yet it's confirmation of aliens in this world.
Transparent design has moved beyond gimmick territory into something genuinely compelling. When Nothing started showing off circuit boards through clear plastic, the tech world noticed. Instead of attempting to make the 3D social platform work for both VR and mobile, Meta is "explicitly separating" its "Quest VR platform from our Worlds platform" and "shifting the focus of Worlds to be almost exclusively mobile," Samantha Ryan, Reality Labs' VP of content, says in a blog post. The new approach sets Meta up to better compete with platforms like Roblox and Fortnite, which also offer user-generated experiences that can be played on your phone.
This past summer, Google DeepMind debuted Genie 3. It's what's known as a world world, an AI system capable of generating images and reacting as the user moves through the environment the software is simulating. At the time, DeepMind positioned Genie 3 as a tool for training AI agents. Now, it's making the model available to people outside of Google to try with Project Genie.
Following a toiling week at CES, there was nothing more captivating to me than the opportunity to watch a full, hours-long Lakers game in the Apple Vision Pro by the time I got home. See, I'm based in New York, so my best chance of catching the latest Spectrum Front Row in Apple Immersive experience -- which puts you courtside, effectively on the scorer's table -- is by watching a replay a few days after the live broadcast.
