Dimension 20 has primarily used Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition across its campaigns, with occasional side quests using other systems. The main cast has only deviated from D&D for the sixth campaign, A Starstruck Odyssey, which utilized an unofficial Star Wars system.
The last five years have seen a tremendous resurgence of role-playing games, from the turn-based masterpieces of Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, to the action-packed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. And staggeringly, it looks like that trend is set to continue well into 2026. While there's undoubtedly a handful of games we don't know about, even what we do have looks like it's going to make this another banner year for RPGs.
I wish this was a one-off blip in my regimented friendship schedule, but all through 2025 I played the world's slowest game of message tennis. I'd invite a pal for dinner, only for the world to turn, the seasons pass, grey hairs gather at my temples, before a date was finally locked in. This sentiment seems to be common among my circle.
Of the Warlock's three Demonic partner options, I found myself leaning most on the Tainted, which can stay out of harm's way while harassing slower enemies from afar with fireballs. The other Demon options both had their charms but often got too caught up in massive enemy swarms to be as effective as I wanted, I found. I also didn't see much point in the skill option that let me teleport my demon into a specific fight
As impressive as the teams of developers that create games are, sometimes I am more blown away by the passion of the communities that build up around them, and what comes out of them. As more and more games are being made with software that is more available for general public use, like Unreal Engine, Blender, and Unity, this means that fans are able to try their hand at making custom creations to add into their favorite games, or even full-blown tools that help others do so. From clever randomizers to giant adjustments to the base game, these are some of the best fan mods and creations released in 2025.
Baldur's Gate 3 was the kind of game that could take hours to get started, thanks in part to a rich character customization suite that allowed players to fine-tune everything from their race to several minute details.
The Forge has one of the deepest crafting experiences you will find in any of the most popular games in Roblox. You are able to not only find ore throughout the world, but you are then able to take it and create gear to use for battles against zombies and more. There are so many different armor recipes you are able to craft in The Forge.
"Hermen Hulst, head of SIE, joked that 'Please do not kill [a] Tallneck (a giraffe-shaped machine),' and insisted 'Please take good care of Aloy. It feels like I am sending off my daughter at the aisle,'" Lee Seong-gu told Inven, based on a translation by Kotaku. Aloy seemingly won't be playable in the game but it's possible she could still appear in cutscenes.
At the end of Darrah's video, he starts to give a soft pitch for how could live on and maybe even see a bit of that fabled No Man's Sky redemption arc that BioWare was hoping for when it announced it was revamping the game in 2019. He says that his idea would "conservatively" run EA about $10 million, and if that should sell more than 400,000 copies, it could actually work out for everyone involved.
As you probably know, we weren't connecting with Wyll's Early Access recruitment and initial questing, so we started over at a point when most of the other companion stories were fairly solid. A lot of decisions came later in development than was ideal - and there was a key situation near Baldur's Gate that I intended to heavily involve Wyll in (the Red War College) that got cut.
Trails Beyond the Horizon's new character, Ulrika, is like staring into the abyss of a broken TikTok algorithm, and while my knee-jerk reaction might have been shock and even a little disdain, over the next 100 hours, I grew to find the character's bit surprisingly genuine and, admittedly, hilarious. What first felt like a gimmick grew to become one of my absolute favorite parts of the game, enhancing the already distinct personality of the Trails games.
This episode opens with a sequence of two women running through a snowy forest while being chased. When one of them is shot, we learn just who they are: Steph, the now-eyepatched future Overseer of Vault 33, and a woman we learn to be her mother. Her mother is shot, and she tells Steph to do whatever it takes to make it to America no matter who stands in her way. "They're not humans," she says. "They're Americans."
In October 2025, rumors suggested that Larian Studios' hit RPG Baldur's Gate 3 could be getting a port for Nintendo's Switch 2. Unfortunately, that report has turned out to be inaccurate as Larian has confirmed that its wildly popular D&D will not be coming to Nintendo's console. During a recent AMA session on Reddit, Baldur's Gate 3 director Swen Vincke acknowledged that the company wanted to work on a Switch 2 port, but it was denied.
As another week rolls in, The Division 2 vendors reshuffle their items to bring us a new catalog that will remain available for seven days. These vendor NPCs are located at the civilian settlements across the DC, New York, and Brooklyn maps. Strategic Homeland Division (SHD) Agents can utilize E-Credits, Countdown Acquisition, and Dark Zone Resources to make purchases at these shops. This article lists all the items available at The Division 2 vendors from January 27, 2026 to February 3, 2026.
