In Japan, the way I dressed became one of the clearest lessons about work, credibility, and belonging. I quickly learned that even in casual offices, there are unspoken expectations.
When I was younger I was frustrated, I was getting angry, especially when I was at Williams and finishing second to last every weekend. I was pissed off. To celebrate International Women's Day, held each year on 8 March, Nature asked six previous winners of awards given in partnership with Nature to name a woman who has had a positive impact on their career and well-being.
