Graduates from elite universities dominate key sectors of the economy and culture despite being a small percentage of the population.
Our priority is maintaining continuity of learning while recognizing the extraordinary circumstances the city will experience during the NFL Draft. Transitioning to asynchronous learning allows us to support students academically while helping families navigate the logistical challenges expected across the region.
I take full responsibility for the win/loss record of the baseball program over the 80 games I have served as head coach. My goal was to work with young people again and restore the South Carolina program to greatness with a return to Omaha.
The creation of an endowment that provides stable, robust levels of support for experiential learning in all of its forms has been a high priority for our college for many years. This endowment recognizes just how central experiential learning is to a Duffield Engineering education. It also signals our intention to continually invest in developing new frameworks that facilitate learning for future students.
Charleston (SC) was victorious in its most recent game against UNC Wilmington, 79-76, on Sunday. Jlynn Counter led the way with 23 points, plus three rebounds and seven assists. In its previous game, Towson defeated Hampton on Saturday, 74-68. Tyler Tejada scored a team-high 35 points (and added three assists and six boards).
The XRP is already used in 180 countries, as well as six graduate courses here at Cornell. And the governors of New Hampshire, Minnesota and Ohio have pledged and are already working toward putting at least one in every high school.
Named for Cornell's first president, the program sponsors scholars and public intellectuals in the life sciences, physical sciences, humanities, social sciences and the arts. Other scheduled A.D. Whether it's executive coaching or life coaching, people understand the concept and know that there is value to it in higher ed. However, what's been missing is this foundational research that really explains why coaching works in this context and how you can then leverage it to have the most impact on student success. What does a coach need to know, and at what skill level do they need to operate in order to have the impact on students that we want to see?
Toby Arquette, vice president for strategic growth, marketing and digital transformation at St. Ambrose University in Iowa, will become president of Columbia College, headquartered in Missouri, starting March 1. Matt Baker, vice president of student affairs at Northwest Missouri State University, has been named president of Emporia State University in Kansas, effective March 2. Scott Beardsley, dean of the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, has been named president of the university, effective Jan. 1.
But USC leaders said they changed their minds about him after seeing his temporary stewardship of campus in a difficult time. He has implemented major austerity measures - including more than 1,000 layoffs last year - to shore up a gaping budget deficit. He has navigated federal pressures from the Trump administration to remake USC in a more conservative image, and is leading USC's response to technology changes such as artificial intelligence that are challenging educational norms.
Earlier this month, Morris Brown College's Board of Trustees abruptly laid off the historically Black college's president, Kevin James, after seven years at the helm. James took to social media and decried the board's actions, noting that the college regained accreditation during his tenure and the institution couldn't afford instability with an upcoming meeting with the accreditor. A week later, the board announced his reinstatement, even as allegations against James surfaced in local media.
While community college advocates argued the lower-cost degrees would benefit students in a state with vast rural expanses and education deserts, private universities countered that community colleges are stepping out of bounds and infringing on their territory. Greg Steinke, the president of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, even went so far as to say the move could put some institutions out of business, telling lawmakers a few weeks ago that "without any question and without any doubt," if the bill passed, "some of our private colleges will close."
Postdoctoral researchers are an essential part of academic science and the knowledge Cornell brings into the world. They often mentor students and lead projects, helping advance discoveries in areas like quantum materials, genomics and biomedicine - work that will fundamentally transform technologies, medicine and public health," said Gary Koretzky '78, vice provost for research, who will administer the grant to researchers in the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine and Cornell Engineering.
"We're bringing together two really significant and very diverse institutions, and it's a big-scale operation, so we'll be able to look at a lot of things across a lot of different environments," said Mindy Tarlow, senior fellow and professor at NYU's Marron Institute of Urban Management, where the lab will initially be housed.
