The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion as their offensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday. He replaces Kevin Patullo in the role. Mannion, 33, was an active player as recently as 2023 with the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks. He will become the fifth different playcaller for quarterback Jalen Hurts, who will be entering his seventh NFL season in 2026.
The New York Jets are parting ways with offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and Engstrand had multiple conversations about his role moving forward and ultimately, they made the mutual decision to move on. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Pittsburgh is expected to interview Cowboys tight ends coach Lunda Wells this week. Wells has been in his current position since 2020, the year McCarthy arrived as Dallas' head coach. The two worked together for five years on the Cowboys' staff. Wells began his NFL coaching career in 2012 with the Giants. The 47-year-old remained in New York for eight years before joining McCarthy in Dallas.
Ohio State is finalizing a deal to make former Pittsburgh Steelers play-caller Arthur Smith its offensive coordinator, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Smith will replace Brian Hartline, who recently was named head coach at South Florida. Smith spent the last two seasons with the Steelers under coach Mike Tomlin. Before that, he was the head coach for the Atlanta Falcons, compiling a record of 21-30 over three seasons.
