The province is expanding its tow truck zones starting April 1 to restrict more sections of Ontario's highways to contracted companies approved by the Ministry of Transportation. This change aims to improve safety and streamline the towing process.
"This project is symbolic of what we've done over the last 12 years, reshaping the streets and the city," Christophe Najovski, the city's deputy mayor in charge of green spaces, stated during the opening ceremony.
NCP has faced a challenging trading environment over several years, with changing consumer behaviours impacting volumes, and a high fixed cost-base leading to trading losses.
Through Community Facilities Districts (CFD), Municipal Utility Districts (MUD), Public Improvement Districts (PID), Community Development Districts (CDD) and reimbursement districts (RD), builders can potentially shift infrastructure costs off their balance sheets and onto special districts that homebuyers ultimately absorb through property taxes without potentially adding debt to the builder's books.
Oversized models, such as large SUVs, make it harder for drivers to see people walking and cycling nearby. SUVs are 14 per cent more likely to kill people walking and cycling than other passenger cars, and 77 per cent more likely to kill children up to the age of 18 in England.
When routes are well organized, there are clear directional signs, and speed limits become reasonable. The early installation of warning signs allows transport companies to plan deliveries more accurately and avoid delays. For businesses, time is money. When a truck carrying goods does not spend hours detouring due to an unclear traffic scheme or stuck in traffic where it could have been avoided thanks to competent traffic management, fuel costs, driver wages, and vehicle maintenance costs are reduced.
The automated parking system uses a robotic arm to plug in a Level 2 charging cable. When the car finishes charging, the robotic arm unplugs the cable, and the EV is moved to another parking spot automatically. About a decade ago, Tesla promised a robotic arm that would automatically plug in an EV for overnight charging. That never happened, but other companies have risen to the challenge and are now offering fully featured products.
It's possible to live your entire life in Brooklyn and never own a car. Of course, public transportation routes and stops are not perfect. There are places in the borough that are not served well at all, but for most people in what is called "brownstone Brooklyn," everyday life doesn't include car ownership. If it isn't prudent or possible to walk or bike, then we hop on a bus or the subway,
Cedar Street just came out victorious in a multi-year saga with the city of La Canada Flintridge, winning the first successful builder's remedy case in California Superior Court for its 80-unit mixed-use project at 600 Foothill Boulevard and setting a path for other developers to build. But the fight may have left its scars, in time, stress and now soured relationships with some officials.
"better align the parking operations of the City with revenue and collections processes housed in the Department of Finance, and abandoned automobile abatement functions housed in the Oakland Police Department." "[It will] streamline and improve the citations collection process," he said in the report. "Delays or inaccurate data in citations result in high rates of delinquency and decreased collectability revenue." He also said the move would facilitate traffic ticket payment plans, improve customer service, and strengthen financial management.
Tower Hamlets Council said in September 2023 it wanted to take down the LTNs and was challenged by Save our Safer Streets (Soss). The court said a failure to reconsult was among the reasons for its decision. Soss said that "thousands of local residents will be extremely pleased and relieved". Tower Hamlets Council, led by mayor Lutfur Rahman, said it was "disappointed" while London's mayor called it "good news for Londoners".
Members of Manhattan's Community Board 7 yet again put car storage first when they shot down a modest request by residents of an Upper West Side apartment building to turn free parking into a loading zone for safer drop-offs and to reduce double-parking. Dwellers of the Astor condominium at W. 75th and Broadway asked the civic panel to back their push to repurpose just two spots at their entrance into a loading zone, to provide a safe space on the chaotic and busy corner.
A lot of what we can do at DOT is ... is focusing on designing our streets, designing our infrastructure, to make it easier for delivery workers to make safe choices, to operate safely, to reduce conflicts between them and other users, whether that's basically wider bike lanes that can accommodate a wider range of users,
Mayor Mamdani swept into Gracie Mansion on the promise of ending widespread corruption around policing and street safety. He can do both by laser-focusing his efforts on eliminating the prevalent abuse and forgery of parking placards. Mamdani has a rare chance to permanently halt this dangerous and criminal practice, and, in doing so, radically alter the balance of power in New York City. For the past decade, under the handle @placardabuse, we've documented how a large contingent of car drivers misuse their parking privileges -
