Built in 1913, the building calls back to the city's early development, much like the commercial clusters just a block or few long that are nestled in so many neighborhoods.

You'd be excused for not noticing Hue House while walking down a midtown Manhattan street. After all, as ambitious as the idea behind this new four-story cultural club showcasing Asian culture may be, the building itself is fairly nondescript, tucked into 56 East 41st Street near Madison Avenue. Step inside, though, and it becomes immediately clear just how much thought has gone into the project.

For many of its staff, the job is a "side hustle," its owner says. The plaque from Heritage Toronto will "salute" the community's courage, Mayor Olivia Chow told a news conference at The 519, a city agency located in Toronto's gay village.
