Spencer Stevenson survived a cardiac arrest thanks to Hollie Page and bystanders who performed CPR and used a defibrillator.
When skier Michael Harris found himself buried under an avalanche at Stevens Pass in Washington, he more or less accepted his fate, understanding that as he was skiing alone, the potential for rescue was slim. However thanks to Apple's Find My iPhone, Harris' was able to see that he hadn't moved for hours and contacted the Stevens Pass ski patrol for assistance.
Getting struck and killed by lightning was a real possibility since we were the highest thing around for miles and lightning was striking all around us. To reach safer ground, they decided to abandon their plan of taking a trail back. Instead, using their ice axes, they climbed down the face of the mountain through steep and icy snow chutes.
