Jason Thompson, a guard at HMP Isis, was suspended as the Metropolitan Police investigated his involvement in smuggling drugs and contraband into the prison. He was sentenced to four years and six months for conspiracy and misconduct.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office must comply with subpoenas issued by the county's civilian oversight board as part of a whistleblower investigation into alleged misconduct, a state appeals court ruled Thursday.
The warrior and guardian are not competing philosophies between which a department must choose. They are complementary capacities every officer needs - and every agency must develop, sustain, and honor equally.
Robinson's true identity was revealed after the Irving police released a bulletin for a car with stolen government plates. A Dallas officer noticed the vehicle in question while working a security job with Robinson six months prior. Dallas police attempted to pull Robinson over on Mar. 11, and Robinson fled before being rediscovered in a hospital parking garage.
This is a tragic incident in which a woman has lost her life. We are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened, and we are keeping an open mind to pursue all lines of inquiry. We urge anyone who was in the area of Bath Road, who may have seen or heard anything unusual, to come forward.
While Sgt X had some mitigating circumstances, it's unacceptable for an officer to act in this deliberate and deceitful way by abusing the trust placed in her. The raw data shows she was not doing anything in the periods she was key-jamming.
According to a statement later released by Columbia, the agents had gained access to the building by posing as police in search of a 5-year-old - going so far as to present a flyer of the "missing child" to a campus safety officer. The ruse allowed them to make their way to the apartment of Ellie Aghayeva, an international student from Azerbaijan who immigration officials claim overstayed her visa.
On January 18, a photograph of a pair of safety goggles in a hardware store floated across my Instagram timeline. "#JOURNALISTS covering #iceprotest in #Minneapolis: Less lethal projectiles move 400-600 feet per second. Z87.1 glasses no longer provide the protection required," read the caption. The post came from Crisis Ready Media and was shared by the National Press Photographers' Association (NPPA).
They square up. He shows him the pistol, and our guy doesn't care. He goes right for him. He starts throwing lefts, and our victim is winning the fight. He almost throws our guy onto the tracks, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said previously. The fight extends all the way down the platform, probably about 25 feet. They come together, and this is where our victim gets shot.
An extortionist who demanded €20,000 from two innocent victims - threatening one that their children's throats would be slit and warning another he would be killed - has argued that his five-year sentence was twice as severe as that handed to his co-accused.
While this lack of cooperation is concerning and unprecedented, the BCA is committed to thorough, independent and transparent investigations of these incidents, even if hampered by a lack of access to key information and evidence, added Drew Evans. He added that the agency remained committed to a joint investigation and said it would continue to pursue all legal avenues to gain access to relevant information and evidence.

An analysis of official data by FWD.us, a nonpartisan organization that advocates for comprehensive immigration and criminal justice reform, shows that 1,168 police departments had officers enrolled to assist ICE at the end of January, up from 135 during the Biden administration and 150 at the end of Donald Trump's first term.
OAKLEY, Calif. -- There is a lockdown for the city of Oakley midday Monday due to an armed suspect at large, the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office says. Officials say the suspect is described as an adult man in his mid 40s, wearing a hat and grey hooded sweatshirt. As of 11:40 a.m., the activity is in the vicinity of the 4300 block of Gold Run Drive near Neroly Road, Oakley Road and Empire Avenue.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche insisted the new video of Alex Pretti kicking an ICE vehicle will not change the way his death is being investigated. Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was shot and killed by federal agents last Saturday. At the time of the altercation, Pretti was legally carrying a handgun in his holster. When agents wrestled him to the ground, one of them appeared to remove the firearm from Pretti's holster. Moments later, at least one agent opened fire on the presumably-unarmed Pretti.
One of the main reasons that cops flock to communities and stay there is directly tied to the amount of support that community gives them. I'm not sure how many of you were almost murdered at work yesterday. But I know one of my guys was,
