Confidence in the bicycle industry is on an upturn after several years of decline, with an average rating of 4.99 out of 10, indicating cautious optimism.

It adapts in seconds without any tools to comfortably fit riders of varying heights thanks to its low-entry frame, quick-release seat post, and height-adjustable handlebar. In contrast with many of the heavy, and powerful fat tire e-bikes that dominated the market-and which felt more like motorcycles than bicycles-the Soltera presented a stripped-down, simplified, and much more analog-like experience. More recently, the Soltera 2 upped the ante with a much more natural-feeling and responsive ride, all thanks to its torque sensor. This version of the bike also added a more robust package of features, including integrated turn signals,

Rad Power Bikes, a buzzy electric bike company that raised nearly $330 million in venture capital, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December. The company had struggled for months prior to its bankruptcy filing, and had warned employees it might have to shut down without new capital.

Xtracycle equipped the Swoop ASM with a Shimano STEPS EP6 Cargo drive unit. It outputs 250W (~500W max) and 85Nm of torque, reaching 28MPH. That makes this a class 3 e-bike. The EP6 drive unit is paired with a 630Wh battery, which can reach up to 60 miles between charges.

I had trained for a full year to complete a self-supported bicycle tour from San Diego to Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was meant to be the next-to-last chapter in my coast-to-coast cycling journey - one more long stretch of road before the final piece fell into place. Thirty-four miles into the ride, it was over. A microfiber towel caught in my derailleur. A fluke. One of those things you never plan for and still struggle to explain afterward.
