We felt this was a timely exhibition because we are once again living in a moment when queer and lesbian communities are being asked to survive systems that were not built for us. These histories are not just stories from the past. They are blueprints for how we build, care for one another, and sustain our institutions now.

According to the Registered Agents Inc. December Business Formation Report, more than 5.9 million new businesses were formed in 2025, an 8% increase over 2024 nationwide. We do cargo bikes, city utility bikes, and commuting bikes, and have been a niche business for 33 years. Perennial focuses on community events. Last year, we did 35 organized community rides.

The federal government signaled a new direction in federal funding this week when it announced plans to put as much as $150 million into a private semiconductor startup. Instead of a grant or a loan, the government would take an equity stake. It's a meaningful departure from how federal funding has traditionally operated. For years, federal R&D support came structured as non-dilutive grants and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards that didn't require equity concessions.

For decades, business leaders have complained that California's regulatory climate has overburdened companies across the state, blaming a morass of rules, permits and paperwork for pushing businesses and jobs out of state and holding back economic growth. To help measure the impact of the regulations, the Public Policy Institute of California, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank, sought to compare the number of business requirements in the state with those in other parts of the country.
