Personal bankruptcy filings are increasing among Gen Z and young millennials due to rising living costs and stagnant wages.
There have never been more billionaires on the planet than in 2026: According to an Oxfam report released earlier this year, there are now more than 3,000 people sitting on 10-digit fortunes. Leading the ranks is Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has a net worth of $659 billion, followed by Alphabet cofounder Larry Page at $264 billion.
Massachusetts is known for being one of the least transparent states in the country when it comes to the accessibility of public records. The governor, judiciary, and state lawmakers enjoy broad exemptions for compliance with public records requests. There are no independent statewide audits of compliance with public records law.
I wasn't pelting stones. I was arranging water for people around me, and blinded by tear gas when the police opened fire. The youth-led demonstrations, fueled by popular anger against Nepal's ruling class over rampant corruption and unemployment, forced then Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli to resign.
Overall, 68% of U.S. adults say they seek advice online, compared with 32% who do not. That means the internet has become a mainstream source of guidance on everything from health and finances to careers and daily living. Yet beneath that broad adoption lies a clear age divide.
A Pew Research Center survey of 1,458 U.S. teens and their parents from Sept. 25 to Oct. 9, 2025-finds that 57% of teens use AI to search for information, while 54% use it to help with schoolwork. Yet their queries extend beyond asking a chatbot to define the Pythagorean Theorem or to explain the significance of Boo Radley's character in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Jennifer Fasulo, a Spanish teacher at Charles W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, a Syracuse suburb, was placed on a paid leave of absence on Jan. 30, just weeks after she offered to help students establish a Club America, the high school division of the Charlie Kirk co-founded conservative group, her supporters say.
In my opinion, it is harder for young people now. I believe my generation got the last decent kick at the cat. To all my peers who denigrate these young people: who raised them? We did. Or we raised their parents and taught them how to be parents themselves. They're our babies, so perhaps we should take a look in the mirror before we crap on them.
BBC Jodie was surrounded by smiling faces at her 21st birthday party, but most were people she had not known for more than a month. The party had been organised for her by the London International Christian Church - a Bible-based non-denominational church, according to their website - into which she had recently been baptised. She was told by her "discipler", or church mentor, she says, that she could not invite any friends from outside the church - only a handful of family members.
For today's young people, online content isn't a backdrop to daily life-it is daily life. Streaming platforms, short-form video, and social media don't just entertain; they influence how young people see themselves, their health, and what behaviors are seen as normal or aspirational. Movies, television, and streaming content still have influence, but as the digital ecosystem expands, so does its power to shape choices-for better and for worse.
China is increasingly not the big, bad wolf in the eyes of young people, who are encountering the country through cultural touch points like the ugly-but-cute Labubu dolls and innovations like TikTok rather than national security threats. They're more focused on kitchen table issues such as a discouraging job market for entry-level workers, inflationary pressures pinching their wallets and the growing sense that America's fractured political system doesn't work for them.
Anti-intelligence is not stupidity or some sort of cognitive failure. It's the performance of knowing without understanding. It's language severed from memory, context, and and even intention. It's what large language models (LLMs) do so well. They produce coherent outputs through pattern-matching rather than comprehension. Where human cognition builds meaning through the struggle of thought, anti- intelligence arrives fully formed.
Many young Bangladeshis who voted for the first time described the election as historic, but falling short of their expectations. As Generation Z, we didn't get the expected representation and results after shedding so much blood and losing lives, student Afsana Hossain Himi told Al Jazeera. Still, we are very hopeful. We have representatives from the younger generation, and we hope they will do something good, she said, referring to the six NCP winners.
The number of Americans who anticipate they will have "high-quality lives" in five years' time has dropped to a nearly two-decade low, according to a poll released Tuesday. Around 6 in 10 people surveyed said they expected their lives would be significantly better in the future than today. That is about nine percentage points lower than during the height of the covid-19 pandemic, according to Gallup, which began measuring Americans' sense of optimism in 2008.
Haidt's arguments and approach have been challenged by critics, many of whom point out that causation is not correlation, that his work ignores the many other potential factors at play affecting mental health. Yet, The Anxious Generation has undeniably had a significant impact. Haidt is leading, in his own terms, a "movement," which we have already seen translate into legislation in many states around the U.S. limiting the use of phones in schools.
Yale University is eliminating tuition and other costs for all new undergraduates from families earning less than $100,000 a year, joining a growing number of elite campuses that are slashing costs for middle- and lower-income families. The Ivy League school announced the change Tuesday and said it will take effect for students entering this fall. Yale previously waived all expected costs for students from families earning less than $75,000 a year.

Lawmakers described routine death threats, armed protesters in galleries, and explicit fears for spouses and children. Several said the June 2025 assassination of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband fundamentally changed how they assess the risks of staying in office. Case in point: Connecticut State Rep. Corey Paris, 34, reported death threats and calls for violence against him and his family last year after he posted on social media encouraging people to share information on ICE activity.
He began by characterizing what I had written as "fascinating," which could have meant a multitude of things coming from a teenager. He then explained that his eighth-grade English class included recent discussions about immigrant pursuits of the American dream. Accordingly, one major takeaway from those conversations with his teacher and peers was that many people come to the U.S. because it is perceived as a land of opportunity.
Nine young men who voted for President Donald Trump in 2024 said they do not support Vice President J.D. Vance as the Republican nominee in 2028, according to a Politico report published Friday, with one voter expressing that he thinks it's time for someone new. The 18- to 24-year-olds took part in a Monday focus group run by communications firm Longwell Partners and shared with Politico, with all but one saying they would rather see another nominee and the lone holdout remaining unconvinced.
