Gil is expected to rejoin the Yankees next week after a Triple-A start, set to pitch against the Rays on Friday.
Luzardo, 28, joined Philadelphia in a trade before the 2025 season and excelled for the Phillies, going 15-7 with a 3.92 ERA and striking out 216 in 183.2 innings. Fearful of losing him after the 2026 season, the Phillies made Luzardo one of the highest-paid left-handers in baseball, sources said, behind only aces Framber Valdez, Blake Snell, Garrett Crochet and Max Fried.
With this early-spring trade, the organization is mortgaging Loperfido's long-term potential - a low-cost asset with five additional seasons of club control - in favour of short-term certainty in Sánchez, who features another arbitration-eligible season in 2027 before hitting free agency. It provides this lineup, now without Anthony Santander (left shoulder surgery), with a known commodity that can help address a particular need - power.
Only two Marlins players have more than 1,000 games played with the club. Arizona and Tampa each have three. Colorado has nine. Furthermore, the games played leaders for each of those three clubs? True MLB stars, each with at least 300 career home runs, with multiple honors, awards, and seasons spent being counted among some of the games best.
Are the Miami Marlins getting ready to move Edward Cabrera? In the immortal words of Adele, rumor has it. Or if you prefer getting your insights from a Magic 8-ball, signs point to yes. Anyway you slice it, the odds are really starting to look long that Cabrera is still a member of the Miami Marlins come Opening Day 2026.
The catcher began his journey through the minor leagues with the Dodgers, who signed him out of Venezuela in 2019. Valladares was one of a few Venezuelan catching prospects in the Dodgers' system alongside Diego Cartaya and Keibert Ruiz. Both Cartaya and Ruiz eventually left the Dodgers via trade, but Valladares remained with the Dodgers and trudged his way through L.A.'s farm system.
Relief pitcher Daniel Palencia will pitch for Team Venezuela in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, his agency announced Tuesday. Palencia had an interesting year with the Cubs. He recorded 22 saves during the regular season, but his usage changed drastically in the playoffs. Instead of remaining in the bullpen until the ninth inning, Craig Counsell used him earlier in games.
"We've been in contact with our guys and are trying to assist in any way we can obviously," Gomes told Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. "I don't really care about the baseball side of it right now. I just want to make sure our guys are in a good place, and we're trying to help out where we can. "Everybody is in a good place right now seemingly. It's a little slower than anybody would like. Our goal is to stay in contact with them and do whatever we can to help them get out as soon as we can."
Miami only claimed Bido off waivers from the Rays four days ago. They're already the 30-year-old righty's fourth organization of the offseason. Bido spent the 2024-25 seasons with the A's and finished the season on their roster. He's since bounced to the Braves, Rays and Marlins. Today's DFA could mean he lands with a fifth different club in what would be a span of under two months.
The Marlins have an agreement with right-hander Chris Paddack, reports Jon Heyman of The New York Post. Miami had been looking to add an affordable back-end starter after trading Edward Cabrera and Ryan Weathers this offseason. It's a one-year MLB deal, according to Craig Mish of SportsGrid. Paddack is guaranteed $4MM with another $500K available in incentives, Heyman adds. More to come.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a quiet offseason thus far, considering their major league moves. However, that has been far from the case regarding filling out the rest of their roster and getting younger in key positions. LA is thinking in terms of the present and certainly the future. MLB insider Francys Romero shared that the Dodgers have signed outfielder Rubel Arias and shortstop Ezequiel Melbourne.
